Biography
Nicholas Moran has practiced law since 2019 and focuses primarily on environmental and trucking and transportation matters. Prior to joining EGHB, Nick was a staff attorney in the Office of the General Counsel at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission in Rockville, Maryland. In that role, Nick drafted motion responses in groundwater contamination cases and other technical matters associated with license applications; researched Commission regulations, counseled staff, and reviewed and approved new reactor license exemption requests and settlement agreements. He also gained professional experience before obtaining his law degree through postings with the District of Columbia Department of Energy and Environment, the Environment and Natural Resources Division of the Department of Justice, and the Administrative Law Judges Division California Public Utilities Commission.
Nick completed his first year of law school at Golden Gate University where he earned a Witkin Award for Excellence in Legal Writing and Research I and II, was an Environmental Scholar and a Dean’s Scholar, and occupied the Dean’s List both semesters. He then transferred to Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. where he was a member of the Environmental Law Society and Hoya Lawyer Runners, served as a BARBRI representative, and earned his J.D. in May of 2019. As an undergraduate he attended Cal-Poly San Luis Obispo and obtained a B.S. in Environmental Management and Protection with a minor in Law and Society in 2015. His extracurricular college activities included membership in the Xi Sigma Pi Forestry Honors Society, the Sierra Club, and Tau Kappa Epsilon.
