SACRAMENTO – Tuesday, May 17, 2022: EGHB Partners Jeremy D. Huie and Daniel E. Trowbridge achieved a favorable result for their client in an underinsured motorist arbitration. The claimant alleged he suffered an L3-4 disc herniation when his car was rear-ended, and the at-fault driver had insufficient insurance coverage to pay for his damages. The claimant argued his spinal injury would require multiple surgeries and/or decades of injections to manage his pain.
Retired Sacramento Superior Court Judge Richard Gilbert presided over the binding arbitration, in which five witnesses testified. Huie and Trowbridge disputed the nature and cost of the claimant’s necessary future medical treatment. They successfully obtained an arbitration award which was lower than the claimant’s final settlement demand.
