SAN FRANCISCO, CA – March 22, 2017: Today a Los Angeles jury delivered a defense verdict for Edlin Gallagher Huie + Blum’s client, a roofing cement manufacturer. The plaintiff was an 83-year-old computer programmer diagnosed with malignant pleural mesothelioma. EGHB Partners Jeremy D. Huie tried this case over three weeks before Hon. C. Edward Simpson in Pasadena.
The plaintiff alleged that he was exposed to asbestos when applying roofing cement on his home and rental properties beginning in the 1980s. Plaintiffs pursued negligence, defective design, failure to warn, and loss of consortium claims. They also sought punitive damages. The jury found in favor of EGHB’s client.
This outstanding result shows the skill with which EGHB attorneys try and win asbestos cases. In addition to obtaining defense verdicts, EGHB attorneys have a strong record of achieving favorable outcomes for clients by winning motions for summary judgment and obtaining greatly reduced settlements.
