SAN FRANCISCO – Thursday, April 14: Yesterday trial attorney Joseph Adams obtained a defense verdict in Marin County Superior Court for two former operators of a dry cleaning business. After five weeks of testimony before Judge Stephen Freccero, the jury took just a few hours to deliver its verdict exonerating Joe’s clients. Joe successfully convinced the jury that modern, state-of-the-art equipment and proper hazardous waste handling practices by later operators of the dry cleaner were not responsible for any contamination at the 60-year-old Marinwood Cleaners site.
Relying upon his 20 years of experience in handling cases involving alleged contamination at dry cleaning locations, Joe was able to demonstrate to the jury that the “Perc,” a solvent used in dry cleaning, was released decades prior to our clients’ leases and operations.
Due to Covid-19 variant surges when proceedings commenced, the five-week jury trial took place via Zoom with the jurors reporting in person only for the purposes of being sworn in and for deliberations. Joe’s effective use of technology and trial advocacy resulted in both an impressive and cost-effective defense.
