Steven R. Ruth is an experienced litigator and arbitrator who is equally adept at prosecuting and defending cases. He specializes in the areas of insurance coverage, environmental, toxic tort, insurance defense, property, landlord-tenant disputes, business, and general civil litigation. Prior to joining EGHB, Steven had his own full-service litigation practice focused on contract, fraud, and general business litigation matters; as well as disputes related to contracts, insurance claims, and insurance coverage. Previously, he spent 10 years as a partner with a Bay Area boutique firm specializing in government investigations and complex litigation, and held associate and of counsel roles with various firms throughout Northern California.
Steven received his J.D. in 1989 from UCLA School of Law where he served as editor-in-chief for the UCLA Pacific Basin Law Journal. He obtained his B.A. in history in 1982 from the University of Pennsylvania, graduating cum laude and earning honors in his major area of study. He also holds a Master of Philosophy degree in European and English history from the University of Oxford and spent a year at the University of Edinburgh refining his knowledge in history, English, and Russian Studies.
