In his role as a partner with EGHB, Nicholas T. Maxwell focuses his practice in the areas of business litigation, employment law, product liability, and trucking and transportation. Nick joined the firm after nearly a decade of practicing law with a leading civil litigation firm in Iowa. He has extensive litigation experience and tried a large number of civil cases, including 18 jury trials. Notably, Nick has taken and defended hundreds of depositions, obtained numerous summary judgments, and successfully defended a large retailer in a high-stakes product liability case.
Nick earned his J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law in May of 2012. He graduated with distinction and served as a contributing editor for the Iowa Law Review. He also holds a B.A. in history from San Diego State University. Nick is licensed to practice law in Iowa and California. He passed the California Bar Exam in February of 2020 before returning to Northern California where he was born and raised.
While living in Iowa, Nick supported his community as a volunteer with several non-profit organizations. He served as chairman of the board for Mahaska-Wapello Early Childhood Iowa; coach for Blakesburg-Eddyville Mock Trial, Junior and Senior High School; board member at the Ottumwa Chamber of Commerce; member of the Iowa Defense Counsel Association; and board member at the Bridgeview Center.
