Biography
Jamal Atiba is an associate who defends clients against casualty, personal injury, and product liability claims. Jamal most recently held positions as Assistant Professor and Hamill Faculty Fellow at the University of San Francisco School of Law, the school from which he obtained his J.D. in 2015. As a student at USF, Jamal earned a CALI Award for Excellence, and was involved as a mentor with the school’s Black Law Students Association. He has also worked as a tutor to help students in the areas of criminal law, property, and civil procedure. Notably, he was the editor of the Jurisdiction and Venue chapter of the late USF Professor Neil Cohen’s textbook Criminal Procedure: The Post-Investigative Process, Cases and Materials. His professional experience as an attorney includes his time with the Law Office of A. Arthur Rugama, where he practiced in the areas of family law, estate planning, and real property law.
Jamal earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California Santa Cruz, where he was a double major in history and legal studies and received Honors in history, Dean’s Honors in his last quarter, and a College Nine Service Award. He is currently a member of the California Young Lawyers Association and the Charles Houston Bar Association.
